New Prompt

← All terms · Orbit-internal concepts

A modal in the Pipeline panel for queueing prompts directly without going through Claude Chat. Auto-fills routing tags from pasted content.

What it is

The New Prompt button (Shift+N) in the Pipeline header opens a modal where you can pick a project, type or paste a prompt, set complexity, and optionally specify dependencies. If pasted text includes `complexity:`, `model:`, or `depends_on:` tags on lines 2-4, the modal auto-fills those fields. Submits through the standard queue pipeline.

When you would use it

You use New Prompt when you've already drafted the prompt elsewhere (or know exactly what you want) and want to skip the conversational layer.

Common operations

  • Quickly queueing a prompt without opening a chat session
  • Drafting and queueing prompts directly from another tool's output
